I did my internship at my dream airport, it was a great experience and I was happy to go to work every day.

My dream is to be a grand staff working at the Airport. When I discovered that Internship 4 offered a program that allowed me to work at an airport in Australia for one month, I applied for the opportunity to discover more about myself and my dream job.

Before leaving for my dream airport job, I was very excited for my training but at the same time I felt a great deal of anxiety about working for one month in an unfamiliar environment. As the training progressed I was able to better understand the work content and handle more assignments which make my day more fulfilling.
The main training points I focused on were assisting customers at the counter, providing Japanese translation and making the boarding announcements. In addition to my duties as a grand staff, I learned the ins and outs of the Freight, Maintenance and Operations Departments, and about how difficult it is to fly and airplane.
During my training I was happy when customers said thank you to me. When I heard them say thank you I felt like I had done a good job and wanted to continue to work hard. Since I was able to work and train with the regular staff members, I was able to develop a feeling of responsibility towards the customers.
After the completion of my training my desire to be a grand staff has only increased. If possible in the future I want to work together again with the co-workers who helped train me during my internship. I was never the type of person to act on my thoughts, however, this time I learned the charm of following through on my intentions and challenging myself by attending this program I feel grateful that I decided to participate in this program.
To all the other students if you are thinking about join Internship 4 even a little bit or you want to challenge yourself I highly recommend you take this step towards your goals.

My Internship was at Japanese company in Hong Kong. I am grateful for the opportunity to have this engaging job.

Although as a returnee I got used to living in different countries, I was still worried about moving to a different country for work. I therefore, joined “Internship 4” to find out what is a suitable option for me. I have visited Hong Kong a few times before and was happy when one of the Travel Agencies in Hong Kong Accepted me as an intern.

On the first day of my Internship, I was told “your schedule is going to be intense and you may not understand it fully at first.” Still, I was able to do the same amount of work with the same expectations as my other co-workers. Even though it was busy all day, I was happy when co-workers would let me help them. I found myself asking my co-workers if there is anything I can do to help when I had a spare time. I went to hotels and restaurants for tour coordination and joined meetings for planning new packages making my 4-week experience more enjoyable.

Through this experience I improved my English communication. Before the Internship I was thinking if they can “understand” me that would be a good enough for me. However, I learned the importance of confidence to effectively communicate my thoughts and ideas and that English, like Japanese has a proper way of speaking in the business environment. My English class grade has improved since I came back.

An advance training class is on Saturday and it can make me likely to give up. However, for those who are planning to work in a different country, this would be a valuable experience I believe. If you work hard, you will gain more than you would think.
