Visit to gBilingual History of the Japanese Peopleh
gBilingual History of the Japanese People Bh (taught by Dr. Yasko Sey Nishimura) is offered as our general education program in the fall semester, 2011. ‚h‚Ž this semester, 23 students are attending this class, including 8 international students from China and Korea.
They have been studying the overview of Japanese history and culture from the gAncient Periodh to the gCivil War Period.h Classses are taught bilingually in Japanese and English. For the gAncient Tombs Period,h transmission of culture from China and Korean peninsula is introduced, using audio-visual materials. Students tried wearing traditional Korean and Chinese costumes and enjoyed handling historical objects such as a clay figurine and a replica of an ancient bronze mirror. At the end of the class, students gave a 2-minute speech answering the question: gIf you were a laborer building Emperor Nintokufs Tomb, what would be your happy time? What would be your sad time?h The objective of this exercise is to acquire English/Japanese communication skills, and to think creatively.
This class is open to international students from all over the world, and to the Japanese students who wish to study with foreign students in preparation for their own study abroad in the future. We recommend you to take this enjoyable and attractive course.
