Visits by Representatives of University for Foreigners - Siena and University California - Riverside

On October 6, Dr. Mika Maruta from the University for Foreigners Siena visit KSU and was met by Prof. Kobayashi and Assoc. Prof. Marvillio from the Department of Italian Language for lunch, followed by Prof. Sato, Director of the Center for International Programs. Dr. Maruta has been very active in arranging the restart of a summer program in Siena from this summer for KSU students and assists and guides students wanting to study in Japan and incoming Japanese exchange students. It is hoped that her collaboration and guidance will encourage more KSU students to take the opportunity of studying at the University for Foreigners Siena.

On October 7, Ms. Cynthia Welle, Coordinator of International Student Services at University of California - Riverside (UCR) paid a friendly visit to the Center for International Programs. Ms. Welle is involved with EBJ programs. Ms. Welle commented that KSU is always well represented by its students and they hope to continue offering the EBJ program. Assoc. Prof. McCormack discussed with Ms. Welle possibilities of further collaboration, particularly in fields of Science. Talks will hopefully continue in this area while also finding ways to renew bilateral student exchanges between UCR and KSU
