Visit to gBilingual History of the Japanese Peopleh
gBilingual History of the Japanese People Ah (taught by Dr. Yasko Sey Nishimura) is offered as our general education program in the spring semester, 2011. The class is open to international students from all over the world, and to the Japanese students who wish to get acquainted and study with foreign students in preparation for their own study abroad in the future. h this semester, 22 students are attending this class, including 4 international students from China.
They have been studying the overview of Japanese history and culture from Edo Period to the present using audio-visual materials in both Japanese and English. Class is taught bilingually so that they can acquire English/Japanese communication skills and cultivation as an internationally open-minded person.
For Taisho Period (1912-1926) class, students experience gJapanese wedding outfits.h They choose models and dress them. What hard work!! Also, they touch old treasures such as coins, accessories and photographs, and experience the old Japan.
