From computers to part-time work, everyday living in Japan is refreshing.
I became interested in studying in Japan after hearing about the country from my brother, who has also studied here and still lives in Kyoto. I began looking into universities in Japan and finally selected KSU because of its' computer facilities. In the International House there are also computers for personal use, which allow me to not only keep in touch with friends in China but also gather various information on economics. The more I use them the more interested I become and after a little more study I hope to make my own home page. At the moment I am working part-time at the University Library and in a nearby cafe. Through contact with people outside the University I have learnt a lot about Japan and that, within the same Japanese language, there are various methods of communication and, that depending on age and gender, entirely different words are used.

I study with my friends in the dormitory
In Taiwan I worked for a company handling children's clothes. They have dealings with Japan, and through talking with Japanese people I gained an interest in them and their culture. To begin, I attended a Japanese Language School in Taiwan and made preparations to study here. A teacher at the school introduced me to Kyoto Sangyo Univ. I decided to study at KSU because Kyoto is an historical city and the campus' greenery was very appealing. I came to Japan excited with yearnings and expectations but actually was often at a loss because of language and cultural differences. At such times my friends staying in the International House have been good enough to give me advice. It is encouraging that in the International House there are not only Japanese students, but also other exchange students in the same position as me.

Everyday I gain fulfillment from study for my future.
At High School, I did a little computer study but wanted to obtain higher knowledge and technique in programming etc. and so chose to study at KSU. After one and a half years study at a Japanese Language School I obtained university entrance and am currently in my sophomore year in the Information Communication Engineering Department, studying among other things C-Language Programming. I find classes difficult sometimes, but because Japanese friends show me their notes and I can ask lecturers questions, there is no need to feel helpless. As well, talking with Japanese friends and Lecturers and, studying with others in the International House, do nothing but stimulate me and deepen my interest. It is also good that I can discuss various topics with students studying different fields on the same campus. After another two years study here and after graduation, I intend to make use of what I have learnt at KSU by finding a position in a Japanese Information Communication Company.
