Multicultural Bilingual Classes with Hokuryo High School

Following on from successful events in 2013 and 2014, exchange students at KSU were again invited to Hokuryo High School to share with the students in classes on cultural awareness.

This year, Hokuryo High School students prepared talks in English on Japanese stereo-types which lead to discussions about customs and daily lives in Japan and the exchange students’ countries. The second half of the program was held in Japanese during which the high school students asked a variety of questions about the exchange students’ countries, interests, characteristics, etc. Questions ranged from “what are popular foods in your country” to “what do you think is your most attractive feature”?

KSU exchange students who participated were from the Czech Republic, the UK, Canada, USA, China, Malaysia, China, Finland, Germany, Poland and Mexico.

There were certainly a lot of laughs, but within that, there was also a lot of mutual learning for the students involved. A big thank you to the 2nd year students of Hokuryo High School.
