Kyoto Sangyo University aims to nurture generalists with a broad range of knowledge in a variety of areas. To this end, the Center for General Education offers common subjects comprising courses in human science education, physical education, English education, and other foreign language education.

Human Science Education

Human Science Education
This course is designed to enable students to select subjects freely from about 200 subjects in four categories: humanity, society, nature, and general. Students are able to either study cross-curricularly in various fields, or deepen their specialized knowledge in a specific field.

Physical Education
Students are able to learn health science and sports science systematically, while trying out various kinds of sports including soccer, tennis, horse riding and golf.

Language Education

English Education
Students take a placement test at the time of admission, and learn English in classes streamed by ability. The learning method utilizes audio-visual materials such as videos, DVDs and the Internet, enabling students to learn English with a focus on their specialized area and interest. In addition, the course aims to provide 'Practical English' by opening thematic subjects such as writing letters in English and expressing opinions in English about current topics.

Foreign Language Education
This course offers nine languages including German, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, and Vietnamese with a focus on practical communication skills such as reading and speaking. Among them, in 'Expert Subjects', students intensively learn a good balance of four skills of the language they choose through lessons offered four times a week.
